GASPORT — A $2,000 ATV stolen from a Ridge Road business was recovered by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office after it was seen being driven by the scene of the crime by a teenage boy.

According to a report filed by NCSO, patrol was investigating the disappearance of a black and green Polaris ATV from Snell's Sunoco Gas Station at about 11:05 a.m. on Friday.

The ATV had belonged to a customer of the service station and was being stored outside because there wasn't room for inside storage on June 4. A neighbor reported hearing an ATV being ridden off the gas station property around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

While NCSO was conducting interviews at the gas station regarding the disappearance of the ATV, they were told that an ATV had just driven by the gas station at a high rate of speed.

Patrol left the gas station and found the ATV pulled over on Hartland Road, where a teenage boy said it had backfired and possibly run out of gas. The boy told patrol that he got the ATV from his own yard and that it belonged to "Papa Don."

After recognizing the ATV as matching the description of the missing ATV, patrol matched the VIN on the ATV to the missing one. The juvenile was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and ordered to appear at Niagara County Probation Services on Thursday before being released into parental custody. The ATV was transported back to Snell's.
