ENP STAFF REPORTS

GASPORT — Niagara County Sheriff's deputies detained a Hispanic male early Tuesday morning who they believed to be in the country illegally.
According to a report filed by NCSO, patrol saw a man walking through a front yard on Mill Road at about 4 a.m. The Hispanic male was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, dark pants, and carrying a gray bag. When patrol stopped the male and asked what he was doing, the male looked extremely nervous and did not answer patrol.
The man told patrol "in broken English" that he was going to work. Asked where he was coming from, the said "Mexico." The man didn't have any identification on him but told deputies that his name was Victor Castillo and he was 22 years old. Asked if he was here legally, Castillo said "no."
Patrol asked Castillo where he was staying and Castillo was unable to give an exact address or location, but instead pointed in a westward direction. Patrol requested dispatch to contact a Border Patrol unit to respond, causing Castillo to act anxiously and look around as to plan an escape, according to the report.
Patrol detained Castillo and transported him to Gasport Road and Rochester Road to meet Border Patrol, who took him for further investigation.
