ROYALTON — A would-be burglar injured themselves trying to gain entry to a Rochester Road business over the weekend.

According to a report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, sometime between 11:20 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday, an unknown person attempted to gain entry to Red, White and Blue Storage, 8950 Rochester Road. The owner of the business told patrol, however, that it didn't appear the assailant made entry into the business and that no items were missing from the business.

The front sliding window on the office had been broken and there was a chair sitting beneath the window that had not been there the prior day. A large rock was found laying on the floor in the middle of the office. The rock appeared to have been used to shatter the window. After going through the glass window with excessive force, the rock struck the back wall of the office causing damage to the drywall.

There were splatters of blood on the interior wall of the office just inside the window area that make it appear as if the would-be burglar possibly cut themselves on the broken glass window, as they were reaching inside of the window in an attempt to unlock the front door. There was also damage found to the trim area of the front door suggesting force was also attempted to gain entry through the door.

An NCSO ID unit was requested to further investigate the evidence on the scene.
