NEWFANE — A Budwey's employee working early Saturday morning reported a possible burglary in progress to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
The woman told NCSO that a man, wearing a white t-shirt and dark colored shorts attempted to make entry to both the Living Water Community Church and Herlan's Liquor Store. The woman told patrol that the white male attempted to open multiple windows on the church before trying to open the north side door of the liquor store. She said that the male then walked over to the front parking lot of Budwey's, at which time the complainant called 911.
Patrol located a white male matching the description in the parking lot of Eastern Niagara Hospital-Newfane, just south of the church. The complainant identified the white male as the person who she observed attempt to make entry to the church and liquor store.
The male identified himself to patrol and was then transported to an Ide Road address, where he was released. Patrol transported the complainant back to Budwey's without further incident.
According to patrol, there were no indications of attempted entry at either location. The case is closed due to insufficient evidence at this time.
