NEWFANE — Two drivers, one from Newfane and one from Niagara Falls, were charged with unlicensed operation and other traffic violations after a Niagara County Sheriff's deputy spotted one driving a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker on Friday.

According to a report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, a red vehicle was traveling eastbound on Charlotteville Road when patrol spotted a blue expired inspection sticker and pulled it over. When the red vehicle was pulled over, a gray vehicle driving behind it quickly pulled into a driveway.

The red vehicle had a front plate attached, but no rear plate. Also the registration on the car did not match the plate on the front. Another deputy arrived on scene and requested the driver of the gray vehicle to pull over to the scene. The gray vehicle had no front plate attached.

Patrol determined that the front plate on the red car belonged on the gray car. They identified the driver of the red vehicle as Martin H. Reyes Jr., 23, 2772 Main St., and the driver of the gray vehicle as Kyle T. Stewart, 27, 2127 River Road, Niagara Falls. Reyes' drivers license was found to be suspended, and his vehicle to be unregistered and uninsured. Stewart's license was also suspended.

Stewart and Reyes were both placed into custody and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation. Reyes was also charged with operating with unassigned plate, operating without a valid inspection sticker, operating an unregistered vehicle, and operating without insurance. Stewart was also charged with registered plate display operation.

Reyes was transported to the Niagara County Jail and bail was set at 250. Stewart was found to have a warrant out of the City of Lockport for Criminal Possession of a controlled substance. He was issued appearance tickets and turned over to the City of Lockport Police Department.

Both are due to return to the Town of Newfane Court on Tuesday. Both vehicles were towed by Jim's Towing and transported to their facility.
