RAPIDS — A Bowen Road man reported to Niagara County Sheriff's deputies on Tuesday that someone had broken into his deceased father's house and stolen a television and copper piping.
The man said that he had gone to check on the Rapids Road residence and found that there was a window broken on one of the doors to the home, at which time he called police. The window had been broken sometime between 4 p.m. Monday and 7 p.m. Tuesday.
When patrol arrived, they checked the home to ensure that no one was inside. After determining the house was secure, the complainant went through with patrol to take an inventory of the home, finding a 40-inch Samsung television missing and several items disturbed. In the basement, they found that several copper pipes were taken from the ceiling.
Patrol also observed wet footprints on the stairs. Patrol then escorted the complainant around the outbuildings of the property, finding several of the doors were pried open, however the complainant was unsure if anything was taken from the outbuildings.
The case was forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Bureau.
