TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A fire in a wooden utility shed on Town of Lockport property is being looked into by Niagara County Fire Investigators, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office revealed.
The fire was spotted shortly before 5 p.m. on Sunday by a Niagara County Sheriff's deputy, who saw smoke coming from the area of the Town Highway Building, 6560 Dysinger Road, while traveling westbound on Dysinger Road near Beattie Avenue.
"The flames appeared to be stronger on the north portion of the shed on the bottom," according to the report filed by NCSO. "The structure was fully involved within 30 seconds of patrol's arrival."
Rapids Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene to extinguish the fire. Niagara County Origin and Cause also responded, as did Town of Lockport Highway Superintendent David Miller.
The 12-by-16 foot shed was used to house recyclable electronics. The shed and its contents belong to the Town of Lockport.
