ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
A post to the business' Facebook page this morning said it has reached out to city officials to try to come up with some sort of compromise.
"We've contacted our district alderman and he presented to the city board to either house Youth & Recreation in our building or work together in some way in exchange, to decrease the remainder due to the city," the post said. "The city attorney stated that those were not legal options available to us."
All of the money the entertainment center has raised will be paid to the city to help offset the debt. Barring a large grant from a foundation or individual in the coming days, the business will have to close their doors shortly after May 16 and the building will be sold empty, just prior to foreclosure.
"There are some people interested in buying the building stripped to use it for only hockey, no public skating sessions, laser tag or golf," the Facebook post said.
In closing, the business said it wishes "to thank everyone again for their support. We appreciate each and every one of you and we are so honored to have been able to serve this fantastic community for the past 20 years."
