ENP STAFF REPORTS

TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A reminder of days gone by for many, the Transit Drive-In continues to push towards the future.
A new retro style marquee was fitted into place in front of the drive-in this afternoon, designed, constructed and installed by Ulrich Sign Co. Inc. The new neon emblazoned sign took over eight weeks to build, a necessary endeavor after an accident with the old sign.
In October 2013, the historic original marquee was struck by a motorist, sustaining heavy damage. The drive-in's neon marquee had been lit up on Transit Road since the early 1950s. The damage was too severe to repair, and the decision was made to build a new marquee which would pay tribute to the classic drive-in marquees from days when every town had its own drive-in.
Drive-in owner Rick Cohen said, "When designing the new marquee, we wanted something you might see if you traveled back in time to the 1950s. The drive-in marquee has been a fixture on Transit Road since 1952. We wanted to build something that would make a visual impact. We did not want it to be just another sign on the road, but a Marquee. A landmark."
The Transit Drive-In is open every night, showing double features on four giant outdoor screens. As the marquee states, this weekend's showings include "X-Men: Days of Future's Past," with "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" on screen one, "Blended" with "The Other Woman" on screen two, "Neighbors" with "Brick Mansions" on screen three, and "Godzilla" with "The Amazing Spiderman 2" on screen four.
East Niagara Post now publishes garage and yard sales.
