The Kenan Center’s biggest event of the year is set to take place at the end of this month when the 44th annual 100 American Craftsmen show takes place May 30 through June 1 at the Kenan Center Arena, 195 Beattie Ave.

One of the region’s longest-running craft shows that remains devoted exclusively to fine, contemporary craft art, this year’s show will feature 10 master craftsmen and previous Best of Show winners; eight new artisans; 10 emerging artisans who have been practicing their craft for six years or less; and 15 members of the Roycrofters At Large Association. These artisans have been juried and must meet extremely high standards of craftsmanship. Once accepted, they are allowed to use the Roycroft Renaissance artisan mark to identify their work.

In addition to exhibiting craft artisans, visitors to 100 American Craftsmen can enjoy a variety of special amenities including a new line-up of live music throughout the weekend. Performers featured will be: Paul Hage Mirage, NeoBossa, Lewis & Klark Jazz Guitar Duo, the Ron Corsaro Trio, Caputi & Co., and Varuna.

Returning gourmet food vendors are Singer Farm Naturals offering a variety of natural dried fruit mixes, Mountaintop Kettlecorn, and Sweet Melody’s Artisan-Crafted Gelato. Joining them will be newcomer Lakefront Olive Orchard. Lockport’s own Shamus Restaurant will provide a selection of salads, sandwiches and desserts in a sit-down cafĂ©. Three Niagara Wine Trail wineries will also be on hand this year — Victorianbourg Wine Estates on Friday, Flight of Five Winery on Saturday, and Schulze Vineyards & Winery on Sunday. The Kenan Arts Council has made a tradition of hosting a Brownie and Lemonade Cart throughout the weekend with an incredible selection of mouth-watering brownies.

Lockport artist Paul Carlino will have his exquisite hand-
made furniture available at the show.
This year, patrons will be able to take advantage of a special reward for shopping! If they spend $100 or more on purchases from our artisans, they can receive a coupon good for $10 off the purchase of two tickets to the Kenan Center’s 4th Annual Niagara Wine & Beer Tasting Fest, Jan. 24, 2015.

Patrons are also welcome to visit the Kenan Center House Gallery, located in the 1850s Kenan House, which will feature a very special exhibit: Rita Argen Auerbach: Chronicle of a 40-Year Career in Watercolor from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on May 31 and noon to 4 p.m. on June 1.

Proceeds from 100 American Craftsmen benefit the Kenan Center, a regional community center for arts, education and recreation.

The show is open from 6-9 p.m. May 30, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. May 31 and 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. June 1. Admission is $6.00 with children age 12 and under free. A $1-off coupon is available online at kenancraftshow.com.
