GASPORT — A 25-year-old Hartland Road man was charged with driving while intoxicated slightly after 2 a.m. on Checkered Tavern Road.
According to a report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, a caller had reported that a dark colored Ford F150 pickup truck had violated several vehicle and traffic laws on Ridge Road. Patrol quickly found the vehicle and noticed numerous traffic violations before pulling the truck over on Checkered Tavern Road.
The driver, Leigh A. Wagner, 2883 Hartland Road, failed several field sobriety tests before being placed under arrest and charged with DWI, moving from a lane unsafely, a muffler violation, speeding, and unsafe movement of a stopped motor vehicle, according to the arrest report. He was reportedly found to have a blood alcohol content of .17 percent. He was remanded to Niagara County Jail and held on $250 bail. He is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Town of Newfane Court.
