Town of Lockport workers attend to Old Beattie Avenue on
Thursday.
State and local road repair crews have been making their way around East Niagara — cleaning, sweeping, milling and paving.

The Town of Lockport closed parts of Day Road and Old Beattie Avenue this week to perform needed service. Meanwhile, crews closed off parts of Transit Road in the City of Lockport milling the state route for an upcoming paving job. The work is expected to last through next week.

The worst of the city streets have been milled and paving is expected to be done shortly. Pothole repair crews continue to fill in the holes, as city streets were brutalized over the winter. The city received an extra $53,000 from Albany with which to fill potholes and repair streets thanks to a late addition to the state budget for emergency road repair.

The city had considered limiting traffic on streets that were particularly pothole-ridden, but scrapped that plan in late April.

East Niagara Post now publishes garage and yard sales.
