A burglar took $70 cash — and a pie — from the Cup and Saucer Restaurant on Ridge Road in Gasport sometime late Monday or early Tuesday.
The owner of the restaurant told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies that he was driving by early Tuesday morning when he noticed that the drapes were hanging out of the east side window of the business. He stopped to check on the business and found the front door unlocked and the window-mounted air conditioner unit pushed in from the east window.
The restauranteur said he noticed pennies on the floor and found that the cash register had been emptied of about $70. The freezer and two coolers appeared to have been entered as well and a chocolate pie was missing from one of the coolers.
The chocolate pie was found in the front of the business in the parking lot.
