Heroes and villains alike are joining together for a common cause Saturday morning.

Skateland must be saved.

The popular Lincoln Avenue attraction has been the benefactor of several different fundraising efforts by members of the greater-Lockport community. In need of paying off a financial burden that threatens to shutter the place, numerous fundraisers have been set in motion to help with the $56,700 tax bill that must be paid prior to May 16 — or city foreclosure proceedings will begin.

Saturday, however, help is coming not just from Lockport, but from Gotham — home to Batman, Robin, Catwoman and the Joker. Help is also coming from as far away as Malibu, Calif. in the form of Iron Man. Even a refugee from Krypton — Power Girl — is lending a hand. Deadpool and Bishop from the X-Men are also expected, as are a few Star Wars characters provided by the North Ridge Star Wars fan club. Other heroes and villains may be in the mix and the preceding list is subject to change.

The special even is geared towards kids 10 and younger, the most likely to want photos with the heroes and villains. Admission for skating and bouncing is $4.50. Skates can be rented for $3, if needed. Parents can skate for free, only paying for skate rental if needed. Older siblings are welcome, provided they're well behaved. With a building full of super heroes, it's not the type of place to act out in, after all.

For more information, visit Skateland's website or call 433-5605.
