A Newfane woman told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies that she was pulled over by a man on Ewings Road this morning pretending to be a police officer.

The woman told patrol that a vehicle, which appeared to be an early 2000s model pickup truck, was following her closely down Coomer Road and began flashing its headlights at her around 12:45 a.m. The woman said she became nervous and pulled over to the side of the road to allow the truck to pass her. She said she believed one of the headlights may have been brighter than the other.

The woman resumed driving and turned onto Ewings Road when the truck appeared behind her again and began following her closely. She said she saw red and blue lights start flashing on the top of the truck and pulled over to the side of the road again. An unknown male approached her and stated he was with "road patrol."

The complainant said the male had a khaki jacket, blue jeans and was approximately 6-feet tall and 180 pounds with dark brown hair that was three to four inches long. The male was holding what appeared to be a mag light flashlight and asked her several times if she had been drinking.

The woman offered to submit to a breathalyzer test and the male said "we don't do that." The male shut his red and blue lights off immediately upon returning to his vehicle with her ID in hand and sat in his truck for approximately five minutes, after which he approached her vehicle again and handed her ID back saying "just be careful."

Patrol spoke with dispatch, who ran the woman's license plate history and stated that no police officer had run the vehicle information or reported stopping it this morning.
