Gillibrand, whose tribute was written by former U.S. Senator Alfonse D’Amato, was said to be bright and tenacious. "Don’t ever underestimate her. She can go as far as she likes," D'Amato said. "If Kirsten Gillibrand wants to be a rock star, she’ll be a rock star. But she’d make a great President. When she draws a line in the sand, everyone knows not to cross it."
Clinton was acknowledged for being "a symbol of strength for women across the world." Her tribute was written by Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist who defied the Taliban to attend school and is a co-founder of the Malala Fund.
The TIME 100 list, now in its 11th year, recognizes the activism, innovation and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals. It can be found in its entirety here.
