A West Avenue man told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies that someone broke into his second-floor apartment between Thursday and Saturday and stole $200 in cash.

The complainant told police that he had a $100 bill and five $20 bills in his bedroom dresser disappear during that time. He told police nothing else in his apartment was missing.

Patrol found no forced entry on the apartment door but did notice that the lock on the door was old and did not provide proper security. Patrol demonstrated to the complainant how easily the lock on the door could be defeated.

The complainant stated that he has only been living in the apartment for a month. A neighbor interviewed by NCSO stated that she had not seen or heard anything.
