The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is asking motorists to use caution near the Robert Moses Power Plant in Lewiston due to an active fire at the scene and responding fire apparatus.

Upper Mountain, Niagara Active, Lewiston No. 1, Sanborn and Air Base fire departments were all dispatched to the scene.

The Sheriff's Office asks that motorists use alternate routes to avoid the Robert Moses Parkway across the face of the power plant.

There was an explosion reported at the plant shortly after 7 p.m.
