BlackBird Cider Works of Barker took three silver medals in a Michgan cider and perry competition over the weekend.

All three BlackBird entries medaled in the competition. There were 375 entries in the commercial division of the 9th Annual Great Lakes International Cider & Perry Competition, judged Sunday in St. Johns, Michigan.

BlackBird's Dabinett English Style Cider took silver in the English Cider category, while their Red Barn Farm Style Cider took silver in the New World Cider category. BlackBird's New England Style Cider took second in the New England Cider category.

Great Lakes International Cider & Perry Competition had a range of fermented products made with apples and/or pears: cider, ice cider, perry, mead, beer, and spirits. Each entry in the competition was evaluated in blind tasting by a panel of two to four judges. There were 19 categories of entry this year.

Last year, BlackBird entered six ciders in the competition, earning four silver medals and two bronze.
