A Town of Lockport boy told police he was buying toys for his sister at Tops in Lockport Saturday morning.
The fact that the 5-year-old was there alone before 9 a.m. with $200, however, drew suspicion, Niagara County Sheriff's deputies, and eventually, Child Protective Services. The boy’s mother told investigators that she had fallen asleep and her son left the house, crossing Transit Road with his father's wallet to go to the grocery store.
NCSO reported that the boy was unwashed and wearing shoes on the wrong feet, without any socks.
