The mercury will rise well above the freezing point this weekend, causing significant melting of the snow on the ground in East Niagara.
Because of that, the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the weekend.
"A significant warm-up Saturday combined with a period of rain will result in rapid snow melt and runoff," the weather service warns. "This will increase the potential for flooding, mainly in small creeks and poor drainage areas. Ice jam flooding is also possible on some creeks which are traditionally prone to ice problems."
Today's high is forecast to be 23 degrees with an overnight low of 18. Friday calls for a high of 37 and an overnight low of 35 with snow turning into rain. Saturday brings a high of 48 and a low of 30.
Sunday and Monday offer a high of 43 and 37, respectively.
