The National Weather Service is forecasting significant precipitation for the East Niagara region at the noon hour, with accumulation of half an inch or more.

"In addition, visibilities will be reduced to a half mile at times," the service says. "This enhanced area of snow will last around two hours once it begins."

The service doesn't specifically name the East Niagara region but does say it will affect Niagara and Orleans counties, specifically naming Niagara Falls and Medina.

The service also warns of significant precipitation this weekend.

"This system may bring a soaking rainfall to the region," according to an NWS statement. "If this occurs, this could potentially result in river or ice jam flooding."

The next few days will be warmer than the past few. The highs for today and Wednesday are expected to be in the upper 20s while the lows will be in the lower 20s. Thursday offers a high of 37 and a low of 36 with snow or rain likely. Friday it will get into the low 40s with rain probable and continuing into Saturday.
