Skate Ahead of Western New York, a premier off-ice training facility for youth to professional hockey players, has been named Client of the Year by SCORE Buffalo Niagara, a nonprofit education and mentorship organization for small businesses.

SCORE Buffalo Niagara, a nonprofit education and mentorship organization for small businesses, will recognize Jared Byer as their Client of the Year 2015 for his work with Skate Ahead of Western New York, a premier off-ice training facility for youth to professional hockey players.
Skate Ahead of WNY was founded in 2014 and is the culmination of Byer’s off-ice development and research with hundreds of youth and professional athletes in the Buffalo area. Skate Ahead of WNY is one of the most advanced training systems in the country, offering fitness, nutrition and skills training in both group and individual settings.
Steven Martin, Chapter Chair of SCORE Buffalo Niagara, has worked with Byer for over two years in developing Skate Ahead of WNY and Made 2 Move Fitness, a private health and wellness studio in Williamsville.
“Jared represents the ideals of small business entrepreneurship,” said Martin. “His commitment to doing things the right way for his clients, employees and his business should be a model for creating a vibrant small business community in our region.”
As Owner and Director of Skate Ahead of WNY, Byer credited much of his company’s success to the support he received from SCORE Buffalo Niagara.
“SCORE mentors have been instrumental in providing experienced guidance in business operations and marketing. The planning and preparation skills I learned through SCORE seminars and coaching have been invaluable.”
Skate Ahead of WNY is based in the new Cornerstone CFCU Arena, where Byer is Director of Hockey Performance Training.
