ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
The 11th Annual Canal Clean Sweep will be held from April 22 - 24 in recognition of Earth Day and in preparation for the upcoming 192nd consecutive navigation season on the New York State Canal System.
As part of this multi-community celebration, Lockport's Windsor Village Shops -- as the new adoptees of the Canal Trail Way State Street section -- will host "Spring into Faith Earth Day Celebration," with a canal sweep beginning at 10 a.m. on April 23.
The canal sweep will be followed by "Sprout 1825 Sow a Seed" at noon and an Open Worship Jam featuring local Christian Artist Mike Gagliardi and John Angelucci from 2 - 4 p.m. Local food trucks Bossman BBQ and Baby Ribs will be onsite at Windsor Village from noon - 5 p.m.
For more information about the cleanup events at Windsor Village please contact Kathy at GrassRoots Mercantile 201-1489. Anyone who would like to participate in the music jam is asked to call 622-8329.
The Canal Clean Sweep highlights the growing significance of the Canal System and the Canalway Trail System as a recreational and tourism destination across the state and here in Lockport by encouraging communities, not-for-profit organizations and volunteers to engage in cleanup and beautification activities along the Canal System and the Canalway Trail.
Over 150 community organizations, service groups, municipalities, and businesses across the New York State Canal System are participating in the Canal Clean Sweep by joining in one of the more than 100 local clean-up activities in Canal parks, along public promenades, and on Canalway Trail segments in their region.
