BARKER, NY: The public is invited to a presentation on Raptor Migration in Western New York at the Barker High School Cafeteria in Barker, NY on Thursday, March 31, 2016. The presentation will begin at 7:00 pm and light refreshments will be served. The evening's events will be led by Brett Ewald of Lakeshore Nature Tours. Focusing on the different raptor species seen in the Western New York area, Brett will share about their timing and distribution, and why their migratory flights in our area happen in the way they do. A citizen scientist opportunity to participate in an area spring hawk count will also be shared.
Brett M. Ewald, a biologist and naturalist, received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Buffalo State College and has been studying and enjoying birds and nature for over 35 years. His passion for birds and their conservation has led to his involvement in many research and educational projects, specializing in migration and distribution patterns. A native of Western New York, his recent research efforts have concentrated on this region. He is the former Director of the Hamlin Beach Lakewatch for Braddock Bay Raptor Research, and co-authored a publication on waterbird movements on Lake Ontario.
This presentation is hosted by Braddock Bay Bird Observatory and Sponsored by Save Ontario Shores, Inc.
