ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
Registrations for winter and spring classes for children at the Kenan Center are now being accepted.
The new “Art with Cassandra” class starting Feb. 6 will focus on painting. Children will learn how to paint in a variety of mediums including acrylic and water colors. During this session, students will be exposed to different painting techniques, how to mix colors, when to use different brushes, and how to achieve a successful composition. No experience is necessary.
Instructor Cassandra McFeeley holds a Bachelor's degree in Art Education from SUNY Buffalo State. Cassandra taught "Art for Children" this past fall, and provided hands-on art projects for children in our Summer Youth Program in 2015.
Classes will take place on Saturday mornings for two age groups, 5-8 at 10 a.m. and ages 9-13 at 11:15 a.m. Class is 6 weeks; fee is $90 per student. Deadline to register is Jan. 29.
Parents can also register now for “Children and Music Together” with Mary Dunn for ages 3-17 months. The class emphasizes early learning and creativity through music for young children. American Sign Language is incorporated into all classes. Class time and days available are: Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.; and Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Both classes are 45 minutes long. Schedule is tentative and could change based on enrollment. Note that classes will be held in the Kenan Center House. Instructor Mary Dunn has been teaching at the Kenan Center for more than 19 years. Deadline to register is Feb. 2
Registrations will be accepted for both “Art with Cassandra” and “Children and Music Together” at the Kenan Center Business Office, M-F between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m, or by calling 433-2617.
