The Lockport Express and Cornersone Arena are making final preparations for the 13-team NA3EHL showcase to be played in Lockport from Thursday through Jan. 31.
The showcase, the second of two for the 2015-16 North American 3 Eastern Hockey League (NA3EHL) season, marks the second year that one of the league's showcases will be played in Lockport.
The league says that the showcase "is one of the most well-attended and scouted events of the entire season for the league, attracting college and junior scouts alike."
All 13 NA3EHL teams will play either three or four games over the four-day showcase -- with the host team Lockport Express playing daily. (Full schedule below)
“With the regular season coming to a close at the beginning of March, the meaningfulness of the games and points on the line will be magnified and provide us with some great theater,” said NA3EHL Commissioner Denny Scanlon.
As the host team, the Lockport Express is charged with staffing the event. Head Coach Frank Vecchio said the team is looking for volunteers to sell tickets, 50/50 raffles, run time clocks and more. Anyone interested is asked to contact him at fvecchioexpress@gmail.com.
Bob Filighera, general manager of Cornerstone CFCU Arena, said the arena staff is glad that the league chose Lockport for a second straight year and hopes the event goes well.
