TOWN OF LOCKPORT -- A 21-year-old Town of Lockport man was charged this morning with two counts of grand larceny, burglary and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
According to Niagara County Sheriff Jim Voutour, Alec J. Baker was charged following an investigation into a suspicious person complaint, which lead to Niagara County Patrol Deputies securing Baker and his vehicle.
At the time Baker was found to have an expired driver’s license and his vehicle was towed and a search warrant was subsequently executed. The investigation into the contents of the vehicle was completed in tandem by Niagara County Patrol and the Niagara County Criminal Investigation Bureau, revealing several items that had been stolen from various buildings and vehicles throughout Niagara County. Property was identified as related to crimes in the Town of Lockport, City of Lockport, Pendleton, Cambria and Lewiston.
Baker's charges include fourth-degree grand larceny, third-degree grand larceny, third-degree burglary, and seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in Pendleton Town Court and remanded to Niagara County Jail on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. He's due back in court on Jan. 27.
Additional charges are reported pending from the Lockport Police Department, the New York State Police and the Lewiston Police Department.
