ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
Niagara County Manager Jeffrey M. Glatz will be leaving his post March 31 -- a position he has held for five years.
In a letter Glatz submitted to lawmakers on Thursday, he that thanked legislators for the trust they had placed in him, and said he had decided to “step away from the rigors of serving as the chief administrator for a public corporation with a significant annual budget and a large workforce” to free up time to focus on other aspects of his life.
Glatz also urged lawmakers to “take the opportunity” presented by significant changeover in Legislative leadership and conduct a thorough review of county department management to ensure the government continues to “identify individuals that can make a positive impact on government policy through expertise and management style.”
Glatz cited a settled contract with the county’s second-largest union and significant progress in labor talks with the county’s other unions, the sale of a former county nursing home and its return to the tax rolls as a productive and occupied residence facility, acquisition of properties that had been under long-term lease by the county, and the production of responsible budgets with low spending increases as his main accomplishment’s as the county’s chief administrator.
Glatz set a March 31 deadline for his departure to allow county leaders to execute a search for his replacement.
