The City of Lockport Democratic Committee held a post-inaugural reception at the Kenan Center, celebrating the gains the committee made on the Common Council and the position of city treasurer.

In addition to local Democrats, the event -- which was open to the public -- was attended by the city's new fire chief, Pat Bradley, and police chief, Mike Niethe, as well as Mayor Anne McCaffrey and Republican Aldermen Joe Oates and Mark Devine.

A cake in honor of the Democrats elected to city position in November bore the words, "Congatulations Anita (Mullane), Joe (O'Shaughnessy), Rick (Abbott), and Sue (Mawhiney). A positive change for Lockport." The elected Republicans in attendance posed for photos with the elected Democrats before the cake was cut.

Other in attendance included Democratic mayoral candidate Roger Sherrie, Democratic council candidates Ed Tracy and Zac Parker, Lockport Professional Firefighters Association Local 963 President Kevin Pratt, and Lena Villella from the City Assessor's Office.

Tracy, who is chairman of the city's Democratic Committee said he hopes the committee can have more celebratory functions in the future.

With three Democratic aldermen and a Democratic treasurer, the city has more elected Democrats than it has had in over a decade.
