ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com

With snow falling throughout East Niagara at a speedy clip, the National Weather Service has issued a lake effect snow warning through 10 p.m.

The weather service states that three to six inches of snow is expected to accumulate throughout Niagara and northern Erie counties through late evening. Four to eight inches of snow are possible in some areas.

Winds are coming at 15 to 25 mph with 40 mph gusts leading to visibility as low as a quarter mile at times, meaning travel may be hazardous.

With lake effect snow, the weather can vary from locally heavy snow in narrow bands to clear skies just a few miles away. Those traveling across the region should prepare for rapid changes in road and visibility conditions.

Power outages are possible and the weather service reminds people that if they choose to use a generator while the power is out, to make sure that the generator is located outdoors and properly ventilated.

Despite the weather warning, there have not been any local closings announced to East Niagara Post. We will announce them if there are.
