TAMPA -- Buffalo Sabres netminder Chad Johnson stopped 30 of 31 shots -- and assisted on an empty net goal -- en route to a 4-1 Sabres victory of the Tampa Lightning at Amalie Arena. Rookie Jack Eichel also added a goal and an assist to his young career in the win.

It was Eichel who started the Sabres scoring on the power play 5:57 into the first period. It was Eichel's sixth of the season and the sixth assist for Cody Franson, who fed Eichel.

In the second period, Steven Stamkos tied the game for Tampa just 52 seconds in. Nikita Kucherov assisted on the goal. Franson put the Sabres back up less than a minute later at 1:40. Eichel assisted, as did Tyler Ennis.

Marcus Foligno scored his first goal of the season at 5:24 of the third period, assisted by David Legwand and Nicolas Deslauriers on a goal that -- by all accounts -- Andrei Vasilevskiy should have stopped. With 36 seconds to go in the game, Rasmus Ristolainen scored on a wrist shot, assisted by Johnson.

With the win, the Sabres are now 7-8 on the season and hoping to reach the .500 mark on Thursday when they play the Florida Panthers.
