ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
A pair of 25-year-old Lockport men were charged Tuesday with burglaries at the Sugar Shack Restaurant, 460 West Ave., and Reid's, 150 Lake Ave.
According to LPD, the pair broke into the Sugar Shack sometime Sunday night or Monday morning, stealing a $200 cash register and $75 cash, and a piece of pie -- valued at $4.25. A window was broken with a brick to gain entry, resulting in $400 damage.
Tuesday morning, LPD Officer Adam Piedmont was sitting in a patrol vehicle at Reid's on Lake Avenue when he heard the sound of glass breaking. Piedmont then saw a male party, later identified as Jeremy L. Dore, 224 Washburn St., Apt. A, running from the building towards a wooded area near the Erie Canal. Dore was carrying a hammer according to the report, which he threw. Piedmont ordered him to the ground and he complied.
Investigation revealed that Dore and Benjamin D. Stump, 336 High St., Apt. D, entered Reid's to steal property, doing about $1,500 damage.
Dore and Stump were each charged Tuesday morning with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of petit larceny, criminal mischief, possession of burglar's tools, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration and resisting arrest.
The pair were arraigned in Lockport City Court on Tuesday.
