According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, a 2003 Chevy S10 pickup truck operated by the Lockport woman was east bound on Saunders Settlement Road when a 2006 Dodge Ram operated by a 56-year-old Newfane man was south bound on Upper Mountain Road.
"According to several witnesses, the Dodge Ram passed through a red signal light striking the Chevrolet S10 in the intersection," an NCSO report states.
The S10 then caught fire and was extinguished by a responding Sheriff's deputy with the use of a fire extinguisher from his patrol car.
South Lockport Vol. Fire Co. responded to the scene, as did Wrights Corners Fire Co. Rural Metro attended to the injured woman until she were taken from the scene via Mercy Flight for treatment of neck and back injuries.
The bypass was closed from Ohio Street to Saunders Settlement Road while the 21-year-old woman was attended to and eventually taken away.
The investigation is continuing by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

The police would do justice if they started watching all that happens at intersections instead of announcing they're having a DWI crack down.
