Lockport Mayor Anne McCaffrey was endorsed this week by the Niagara County Association of Chiefs of Police in her bid for election as Mayor of the City of Lockport.

The Association cited her partnership and support of local law enforcement, in addition to her efforts in creating and supporting new programs in conjunction with the Lockport Police Department as key factors in their endorsement. One program that was highlighted was the “Game Changers” project, which created a mentoring program for teenagers.

“Over the past 18 months, Mayor McCaffrey has been an active supporter of law enforcement in the City Lockport." She "has recently settled a comprehensive union contract with the Hickory Club Police Benevolent Association that successfully and effectively addressed both city and police union contracts,” said Chief Larry Eggert, President of the Niagara County Association of Chiefs of Police. He added that she "has also advocated for new equipment for the Lockport PD, including new patrol vehicles and body cameras.”

McCaffrey, in accepting the endorsement, said, “I am honored to receive the endorsement of our law enforcement officials in Niagara Country. These brave men and women go into harm’s way to keep our community safe and I am very thankful for their service to our community. I have and will continue to support our local law enforcement and I am proud of all that we have accomplished together already in my time as mayor."

Chief Eggert concluded, “Overall, our organization thinks another 4 years for Mayor McCaffrey would be in the best interest of all the citizens of the City of Lockport and we offer her our whole-hearted support.”
