ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
WASHINGTON, DC — With 9/11 programs set to expire at the end of the month, U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is pushing for a permanent extension of the health and compensation programs.
Passed in 2010 as a part of the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, two of the Zadroga bill’s critical programs — the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program and the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund — are set to expire on Sep. 30 and October 2016, respectively. Without funding, thousands of first responders and survivors will be left without the health care and benefits they need.
Gillibrand is planning a media conference call on the matter on Tuesday.
