Andrew Cuomo
ALBANY — New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo released a statement this afternoon on the shooting deaths of two reporters in Moneta, Va.

The TV news reporters — 24-year-old reporter, Allison Parker and 27-year-old photojournalist, Adam Ward — were shot on live television while broadcasting on location around 6:45 a.m., setting off a statewide manhunt for the shooter. The pair died shortly after being shot.

Cuomo called the incident "the latest in seemingly endless painful reminders that we must confront the rampant gun violence in our communities."

His statement follows below in its entirety:
My heart goes out to all those impacted by the shooting that took place this morning near Moneta, Virginia. Like all of you, I am shocked and saddened by the senseless murder of two members of the media who were doing nothing more than their jobs.
“This morning's tragedy is the latest in seemingly endless, painful reminders that we must confront the rampant gun violence in our communities.
“On behalf of all New Yorkers, my thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and co-workers of those who died. They will be remembered.”

  1. Two words, America. GUN CONTROL. Shootings in schools, movie theatres, churches, etc. are extremely rare in Canada, because we have it. They happen frequently in your country because you don't. That simple. Don't give me that "right to bear arms" crap. That was written into your constitution to allow for the rapid creation of a citizen army in case England decided to try to keep you as a colony rather than grant your independence. It's been 239 years, so by now, it's a pretty safe bet that they're not going to attack. Even if they or anyone else did, you now have a plenty large enough formal military that would easily be able to handle such an attack, and don't need any citizen help. The time has come, America. Kill your Second Amendment before it kills more innocent victims.

  2. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. if you live in Canada, don't worry about the United States.
