ENP STAFF REPORTS

The home was fully engulfed when the fire department arrived. |
Wrights Corners VFC responded to the blaze at 8:25 p.m., finding heavy smoke coming from a thickly wooded area before getting to the home itself, which was fully engulfed — by not occupied — on their arrival.
South Lockport Fire Co. was immediately called to assist in the fighting of the fire, which had firefighters pulling hundreds of feet of five-inch hose up a steeply sloped driveway that the engines couldn't traverse.
With the roof and second floor already gone, the fire was fought completely from the outside of the home to prevent injury to those fighting it. Fortunately, it did not spread to the nearby woods or multi-car garage nearby.
Niagara County Sheriff Deputy Paul Harrer was on scene to gather the information from this fire, while Niagara County Origin and Cause cere called to the scene to investigate.
The fire departments used hundreds of feet of hose to battle the blaze. |
