ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
East Niagara Post readers may notice that for the first time since our formation, there is a political advertisement on the website.
Roger Sherrie, candidate for Lockport mayor, is the first political candidate to buy an ad on ENP for the 2015 elections. His ad, which sits on the right column of the website, will rotate along with the rest of the ads in that column.
Since Sherrie's ad went live late Monday night, we've been contacted by two other political candidates who asked how advertising on ENP works. Political advertising has a couple unique rules, so we thought we'd do everyone a favor and explain it here.
Any advertising space on East Niagara Post is available as a political ad, just as it would be available as a commercial ad. The pricing is the same and is clearly marked on the "advertising" tab of the website. Ad rates start as low as $100 per month — or just over three dollars a day. All ads on ENP, with the exception of event ads, run for a minimum of one month.
Unlike commercial advertisements, political ads can be pro-rated beyond a month. Because they are tailored to a certain date, we can add on days as needed to allow a candidate to start an ad today and run it through the primary election, Sept. 10, for example.
Political ads can be purchased by anyone — candidate, campaign or private individual. However, the person or organization funding the ad must be clearly stated on the ad itself. This is a standard New York State Board of Elections rule.
Political ads can be designed by the candidate or ENP. Regular design and processing time will be in effect, however.
If you have further questions, please email advertising@eastniagarapost.com or call 795-2727.
