Artists work on their arts in the Pine Street lot. At right, you can see the
community piece has a few bites taken out of it.
Over a dozen artists are toiling away at their work in the split parking lot at Pine and Main streets, creating art from chalk.

The third annual Sweet Chalk Festival brought artists in from far and wide to create temporary masterpieces for the enjoyment of Lockportians and tourists alike.

The artists works started months ago for many of them with research and sketches. But they started today in earnest in the paved lots. The works are to be completed tomorrow.

As in years' passed, there are also works by students. And for the first time, there is a community piece. The patchwork masterpiece asks attendees to create a square of what will eventually come together as one piece of art.
