The Lockport Community Market has received a $5,000 grant from Seneca Niagara Casino funding.

The grant, secured by Niagara County Legislators Keith McNall, Rick Updegrove and Tony Nemi, will allow for further development and expansion of the market.

The funding will be used to continue to attract visitors to the market, the Locks District, and to downtown Lockport. In 2014, the market is estimated to have brought on average 500 people into the city each week and those visitors spent more than $70,000 during the season.

The Lockport Community Market runs from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. each Saturday from July through September on Canal Street in downtown Lockport.  It features live entertainment, activities and demonstrations, and a multitude of vendors each week offering fresh produce, meat, baked goods, local wine, jewelry, unique gifts. Live entertainment can be also found each week in the Canal Street gazebo, and activties for children and adults will be conducted throughout the season.

For more information and the market's schedule of activities, visit www.LockportCommunityMarket.com.
