ENP STAFF REPORTS

OLCOTT — A 45-year-old Florida man in town as a ride operator for the upcoming Pirate Festival was charged late Tuesday night with fourth-degree criminal mischief, accused of breaking two plexiglass windows at the Olcott Fire Co.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office report, John David Hendley, 14766 US Highway 41, Spring Hill, Fla., was intoxicated and shouting in the parking lot of the fire hall, where he had been given permission to store the ride he was to operate this weekend at the Pirate Festival.
Hendley was seen walking along the north side of the fire company's three-bay garage, striking each of the plexiglas windows with his hand before walking to the back of the parking lot, where he sat beneath a parked trailer and continued drinking alcoholic beverages. When one of the fire department's trustees, who had witnessed the matter, checked the windows, he found two of them to be cracked.
NCSO was called and found Hendley in a highly intoxicated state, and with an apparent minor cut to his hand. Patrol placed Hendley in custody and transported him the Niagara County Jail, where he was held on $500 bail and ordered to appear at the Town of Newfane Court on Tuesday. He was also advised not to return to Olcott Fire Co., "as they do not want him on their property."
