ERIE, Pa. — The Lockport Rampage lost a close pre-season game Saturday night to the Erie Express, 17-16.
The Express opened and closed the game with scores — a 40-yard touchdown run to start the game and a field goal with less than two minutes to play — accounting for 10 of their 17 points. The Rampage, meanwhile, owned the middle, benefitting from a well-timed touchdown of their own with just nine seconds to play in the first half.
"It went back and forth," said Rampage team president Roland Davis. "They had two big plays the entire game."
"They were a good team last night and we made mistakes," Davis said.
The Rampage has two more pre-season games before its regular season opener on May 30. The team went undefeated in the regular season last year, not losing until it reached the championship game 28-22 against Troy's Fighting Irish.
The team plays its home games at Outwater Park. The full schedule follows:

Regular season
