The Mr. & Miss Lockport contest submission deadline has been extended to June 1.
The contest, designed by the Lockport Sesquicentennial Committee, is an effort to find a 20-something male and female to represent the city for its 150th birthday celebration.
Winners will have be the faces of the sesquicentennial and be treated as VIPs at all the official #Lockport150 celebrations. They'll have the opportunity to be the grand marshall at the city's Indepdence Day parade, be judges at the Taste of Lockport, and play kickball on "Team City Hall" against East Niagara Post. Additionally, the winning male and female will each receive an awards package designed to make their time in the spotlight even more enjoyable.
Applicants must be available during the nine days of the sesquicentennial but are not required to attend all events. To be eligible, Mr. and Miss Lockport must be a current Lockport resident between the age of 21 and 29.
Eligible submissions will be voted on by the general public on the Lockport 150 Facebook page. Self-submissions are allowed, as are nominations of friends or family.
Submissions should be emailed to Lockport150@gmail.com by noon on June 1 and should include a selfie-style photo and short essay describing why the applicant should be Mr. or Miss Lockport.
