Irene Barnett died on April 29, 2015 at Eastern Niagara Hospital - Lockport, after a brief illness.

She was born in Germany on December 16, 1932 to Dr. Curt Wiesenthal and Martha (Bartmuss) Wiesenthal. In 1935, the family went to Jerusalem Palestine and to the United States in 1939.

Irene graduated from Lockport High School in 1951 and from Cazenovia Juinor College in 1953. She received a Business Degree from St. Joseph's Academy. Irene worked in her fathers medical office until his retirement, and then she worked as a home health aid. She volunteered at Lockport Memorial Hospital as a guild member for many years.

Irene married Glen Barnett on April 26, 1969. They were longtime members of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Both enjoyed golf, travel, friends and family.

Irene is survived by her sister, Dorthea Eichhorn; nieces, Joyce (Robert) Breitman, Karen(Jay Levine) Eichhorn, Kathy Magistri; nephew, Frank Penn; brother-in-law, William Hastings; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Friends may call from 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM on Friday, May 8th at the Taylor & Reynolds Funeral Home, corner of Transit and Niagara Streets. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9th at 10 AM at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church with burial in Acacia Park and Resthaven Cemetery in North Tonawanda. A reception will follow at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
