Market Street Art Studios is joining in the fight against breast cancer this Mother’s Day by donating five percent of all sales Sunday to the Mother’s Day Breast Cancer Canal Walk.
“This disease affects everyone,” says Sally Bisher, director of the art studios. "We enjoy seeing the walkers go by every year but this year we decided we didn’t want to be only spectators anymore. Not everyone can walk but everyone can give a little something. Mother’s Day has always brought us lot of visitors to the Market Street Art Studios," continued Bisher, “We’re a Mother’s Day kind of thing to do so we thought we’d make the day more special by helping out a good cause.”
In addition to the five percent donations, Market Street Art Studios will be raffling off a gift basket worth $50. Tickets are $3 each with all proceeds going to the Mother’s Day Breast Cancer Canal Walk. The centerpiece of the basket is a high quality 8x10-inch print of a Kathleen Giles painting, donated by the artist.
“Kathleen is a renowned local artist,” said Bisher, “who is quickly gaining a national reputation.” Tickets can be bought all this week at the Market Street Art Studios. The drawing will be held on Mother’s Day at 4 p.m. and the winner notified the next day.
The Market Street Art Studios are located at 247 Market Street in Lockport and are open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is never an admission fee. For more information call 478-0248 or visit www.marketstreetstudios.com.
