Marjim Manor's Cherry Concerto recently won a gold medal. Four other wines
from the Appleton winery received awards, as well. (CONTRIBUTED PHOTO)
APPLETON — The Winery at Marjim Manor received five medals at the recent Finger Lakes International Wine Competition — including a gold for Cherry Concerto.

A sweet cherry wine, Cherry Concerto is made with the Montmorency cherry. It has been nicknamed "cherry pie in a bottle."

Winery owner Margo Sue Bittner says the wine pairs well with spicy beef dishes. "However, the flavor pops when paired with anything chocolate."

Silver medals were awarded to Applegria, a blend of apple, peach and pear wines; Slice of Heaven, a sweet apple wine, and Adams’ Appleberry, a blend of apple and cranberry. Thursday Afternoon at 3, a peach and white wine blend received a bronze medal.

The wines are available at the winery, which is open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily and noon until 6 p.m. on Sundays, as well as 160 liquor stores and restaurants. A list of places that carry it are available on the winery's website, www.MarjimManor.com.
