Many of us are still snarking at the low hanging pants phenomenon that we were sure would not last and now we are forced to guffaw at another nonsensical trend that seems to be gaining in popularity — the smiling mug shot, or as I have recently coined it, the Smugshot.
Mel Gibson, Mickey Rourke, Paris Hilton, Nichole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, Kid Rock, Robert Downey, Jr., Bruno Mars, OJ Simpson, Matthew McConaughey, Justin Bieber; all pioneers of the Smugshot. Sure, these people are professionally programmed to smile for the camera, but seriously, a mug shot?
This phenomenon seems to have officially gone mainstream. I see it more often in all the publications I read; national and local.
I think it would be apropos if anyone with a smugshot, who was ultimately convicted of their offense was given community service time, especially if it involved a victim.
Let’s see if they are still smiling whilst picking up trash along Transit. You know I would be smiling if I drove by.
In my humble opinion.
