BUFFALO — The Buffalo Sabres today announced that the team has acquired goaltender Chad Johnson and a third-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft from the New York Islanders in exchange for goaltender Michal Neuvirth.

Johnson (6’3”, 193 lbs., 6/10/86) signed a two-year contract with the Islanders in July 2014 and has appeared in 19 games for the team this season, posting an 8-8-1 record. In parts of five NHL seasons with the Islanders, Boston Bruins, Phoenix Coyotes and New York Rangers, Johnson has gone 28-14-7 in 56 games played, logging a .914 save percentage and a 2.41 goals-against average.

The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round (125th overall) of the 2006 NHL Draft.
