ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
The Lockport Express Junior A hockey team will have its own farm system come the 2015-2016 season.
The team has been approved by the NAPHL to have a 16UAAA and 18UAAA team. The NAPHL is part of the NAHL system of teams. The Express Junior A team played in the NA3EHL league this season, also part of the NAHL system.
"These teams will serve as development/feeder teams for the junior team," according to Frank Vecchio, head coach and GM of the Junior A team. "However, more importantly, as all of our leagues are under the same umbrella of the NAHL, it gives players aspiring to play at a higher level a clearly defined path to do so."
The 16UAAA and 18UAAA teams will be made up of teens 16-and-under and 18-and-under, respectively. Team tryouts will be held March 31 and April 1. The teams are expected to play their home games at Cornerstone CFCU Arena.
